SÄLZER security solutions are tested and certified up to the highest security classes. They form a reliable protective shield against the threat of firearms. People in the public eye, such as high-ranking politicians or business owners, are at high risk even in their private lives.
Our security solutions enable such people to have a normal life. Visit us at our production facility in Marburg, where you can see product tests at our ballistics test centre for yourself.
Challenges in the event of gunfire:
If windows, doors and façades come under gunfire, areas that are hit are subjected to extreme, intermittent stresses. This requires stability and mass.
Deciding factors for the destructive power of firearms include:
- The weapon systems
- The ammunition
- The muzzle energy (mass, velocity)
Tested complete units stop the most powerful forces
Individual components and materials only have a certain amount of resistance – the connections and transitions in between them pose a risk of bullet penetration which should not be underestimated. We know that only fully tested units are effective against gunfire in an emergency. This is why we recommend that you also secure your attachments to the building structure against bullets.
Even though this is not specified by the relevant standards such as the European standard for bullet resistance, we have specifically subjected the wall attachments of our systems to gunfire at test institutes – for reliable security without loopholes.

The benefits for you with SÄLZER
Expert knowledge for your security – beyond the standard
To ensure reliable protection from bullets with a range of different weapon systems, ammunition and the accompanying muzzle energy, an extensive testing history is required. This is because even small changes in the construction, such as the installation of sun shading, can have devastating consequences on the unit's protective function.
Often only BR classes are requested in quotes and specifications for tender. However, these are resistance classes for bullet-resistant glazing and are therefore only part of the solution.
Only fully tested products provide full protection against bullets without weak points in an emergency. We therefore always test the complete unit – frame, glazing, hinges, fittings, locks, etc. The building component attachments and material transitions (such as the frame and glazing) carry a particularly high risk of bullet penetration, which must be prevented at all costs.
Whether the tests are carried out in accordance with international standards, such as DIN EN 1522-1523, or individual customer requirements, all of our security concepts have been and are tested with real weapons, and the high level of protection is verified by numerous certificates.
SÄLZER ensures effective protection against bullets through unit profiles, safety glass, security fittings and fixings that have been developed specifically for this situation and are tested together as complete units. Professional installation in the building structure provides additional security.
What makes our bullet-resistant security windows, doors and façades special is that, despite the high security requirements, we still offer individual, architecturally sophisticated designs up to the highest resistance classes. At SÄLZER, security never comes at the expense of design.

Combined security – tested and certified
Even though rigid constructions are required to safeguard against bullets, flexibility is needed when it comes to protecting against explosions, and stability for burglar resistance – completely contradictory requirements that we are able to meet thanks to our specialist expertise.
Bullet resistance up to FB7-NS, burglar resistance up to RC 5, explosion resistance, e.g. for steel doors up to a pressure of 2,750 kPa (27.5 bar) as well as fire and smoke protection up to EI90/S200
Whether it is bullet resistance or protection against break-ins or explosions, at SÄLZER, the complete unit (frame, glass, hinges and fittings, etc.) is always subjected to testing, with the certification being issued for the entire product, i.e. the window, door or façade.
High thermal insulation and highly secure – no compromise
We offer high thermal insulation even when a high level of protection is required, such as with FB7 which can have a glass thickness of up to 10 cm. We can therefore use triple glazing in the FB7 based on the profile basic depth.
